The Official Fleetwood Town Match Thread (Sponsored by GCSE Art "for all your endless drawing needs")

Draw specialists Gills head to 11th placed Fleetwood tomorrow seeking our first win in six against a side who've not lost at home since mid-August. It's a long old trip to make just five days before Christmas, especially with Gills in rank average form and the home side unbeaten in four months.

Our second half capitulation against Barrow last time out still rankles, a hugely comfortable lead blown in feeble style against another limited side. It comes as no surprise to find GA stating we need more leaders in the side, his substitution of two of our more experienced pros on Saturday heralding the Barrow comeback to boos at the final whistle.

Gills currently find themselves down in tenth spot as the lack of wins begins to bite, with Fleetwood just one place behind us having scored twice more yet conceded five extra in comparison. Pete Wild's team have yet to find any real consistency in their form this campaign, although their last six games shows a clutching-at-straws LDWLDW symmetry.

There was positive fitness news this week with the return to contention of Conor Masterson. Others in the frame for a possible appearance tomorrow include strikers Vokes, Wyllie and Andrews, with Euan Williams' name bandied around yet again, although I am beginning to doubt his very existence at this point. It appears the squad are travelling up on the day of the game given pre-match comments, how much of an impact this will have given the journey remains to be seen.

The head to head record is unfavourable. Tomorrow will be the 20th meeting of the two sides with Gills winning just four and Fleetwood nine of the previous fixtures. Our ten visits to Highbury (not that one) have resulted in a solitary victory, a trip that was only three days short of Christmas in 2017, two goals in the first 15 minutes from Josh Parker and Luke O'Neill sending the hardy travelling fans home happy.

Ordinarily, you'd be looking at tomorrow thinking a draw would be no bad thing, but when you've had five of the buggers on the bounce you have to be looking at three points soon if the season isn't to fizzle out into the latest one pump dump we've witnessed in recent years.

No idea what the travelling numbers are tomorrow, not seen it punted around in the lead-up to the game. Our allocation was 350 but I can't imagine we will be close to that as a combination of distance, timing and general averageness intervenes, but every single one of them deserve respect for making the trip.
